The part nobody tells you

Encrypting financial data has a real cost: if the server can't read it, the server can't add it up either. We'd rather say that to your face than pretend it isn't true.

  • In an encrypted space, totals and reports are computed on your device. It's slower across many years of history, and that is the price of the server knowing nothing.
  • In an open space, the server computes and it's instant — and the server can see. That choice is yours, per space, and not ours to make for you.

The vault is always encrypted. This choice exists only in finance, because it's the only place where it changes anything.
